According to the definition of multiple levels throughout each façade of the House X by Peter Eisenman, an axonometric typography was applied.
As Peter Eisenman states on his research on House X, the whole house can be ‘framed’ inside a cube (with exceptions of certain ‘pieces’ that still relate to the cube in various ways, grids and connections). Applying on each side of this hypothetical cube (6 sides) each letter of the title HOUSE X (6 letters), we end up with a typographical representation of the house.
The results are interesting and someone could definitely benefit using them as conceptual ideas for further development. What would it be like if these elements became windows or a differentiation of materials on the exterior surface of the building?
An application maybe of certain two dimensional pieces on a three dimensional space. An installation of typography in 3d space that can ‘transform’ to more natural forms when looked from certain angles (it is true that looking at these ‘random’ pieces from an elevational view, we sure start to discover the more familiar shapes of the letters H, O, U, S, E and X).
Or maybe transfer this three dimensional work, back to a piece of paper to form an illustration of the house from a different perspective.
This blog is an exploration of the interaction of different design disciplines. This ever expanding project is the main study of my MA on Graphic Arts+ Design at Leeds Metropolitan University.
This is an attempt to identify and record the major targets / experiments of this year's study. Research methods, design attempts and ideas, influences and links to other available material will be found here as well as future ideas and thoughts.
This blog should be the starting point of further thinking and exploration. Please feel free to comment and express your opinions on things you like or dislike.
